Liz and I attended the papal audience today, which consists of Pope Benedict's weekly catechesis. Even though 50 thousand were in St. Peter's Square, thanks to the good graces of Bishop Robert McManus of Worcester and others here in Rome we sat as close to the pope as someone can without being a bishop or cardinal. Liz was able to shake the pope's hand after the audience, a great treat for her.
We fly home tomorrow, and a number of posts about the trip will be forthcoming as time permits.
